Seitel Data is the division of Seitel, Inc. responsible for building and maintaining one of the largest seismic data libraries in North America. The library reflects a concentration of 3D Land, 3D Marine, 2D Land and 2D Marine
in all major oil and gas producing areas in the United States - and through the acquisition of Olympic Seismic - Canada as well.
Why amass such a large volume of information?
Simple. High fidelity seismic data is the key to successful oil and gas exploration. Technology and technique invested in seismic design and acquisition can significantly decrease the risk of drilling a dry hole.
Seitel also recognizes that good data sets are a dynamic commodity. Once data is acquired, it's there to be used over and over again, generating new plays as well as revenue from library sales. Consequently, we've developed a business model and strategy to leverage this commodity:

To ensure the highest quality data product, Seitel Data has amassed a qualified staff of geoscientists to consult with oil and gas clientele and design cost effective and data rich seismic surveys. A core team of seismic sales specialists assemble the multi-client surveys and promote sales of licenses to library data.
Seitel Data's new seismic surveys are implemented in strict accordance with local permitting guidelines and environmental regulations.
